Soft Spring Arriving, oil on canvas, 36 x 36 inches. Private collection, Dallas
My thanks to the wonderful that purchased this work for their collection!
About this oil:
After our longer Colorado winter, the colors of Spring come in quickly and dramatically. It is now a bright green world here complimented with flowers of every hue. I wanted to express all of that but in a different way.
For this oil, a large variety of colors were used but quietly. The multiple colors are bright, but not full strength and they compliment, rather than compete for attentuion. Everything in this oil is set up to showcase the color bouquet and to create a window for the soft, glowing, yellow-green background
The satiny, radiant light on the creek adds to the luminescence in the painting and also provides a border for the array of rich greens below.
Although here is much complexity and color, the oil exudes a feeling of calm, of Spring arriving softly.
