About this oil
The sky has always been a place I love to explore, a vast and open space that invites every color to dance in endless combinations. Every time I paint a sky there is the potential to venture into something new and full of possibility.
Beneath this painting lies a different, “failed” sky. The colors in that version clashed and refused to harmonize, so I decided to begin again. With three bold, sweeping horizontal strokes, I covered the canvas and reset the energy, creating space for something fresh to emerge. From there, the painting began to take on a life of its own.
Once the clouds began to form, I added movement and surprise, layering patterns within the shapes and introducing unexpected colors to bring the scene to life. Though the palette leans toward warm yellows and oranges, the finished piece feels balanced and calm, with a quiet energy.
Watching the sky unfold across the canvas was truly a joy, and I hope that same sense of peace and wonder comes through to anyone who sees it.
