Yellow Abundance II, oil on canvas, 40 x 40 in.

Oil on canvas, 40 x 40 inches, framed

Exhibiting: Dominique Boisjoli Fine Arts, Santa Fe, NM $6650 framed

About this oil:

This piece is inspired by the experiences of living in Colorado, where the natural beauty and vibrant weather encourage frequent outings with friends to explore the landscape, especially in autumn when colors are at their peak.

As an artist, I have that in abundance, driving my painter friends into the country, particularly in autumn and allowing ourselves to be overwhelmed with the color.

That is the basis for this work, a purely abstracted group of forms in saturated color. While these shapes have a foothold in reality, those anchored trees along the bottom, the rest of the painting is an exploration of color, texture, and mass.

It was very enjoyable to add so much color on color as well as the subtle tweaks that amplify the golden tones throughout.

The aqua strip was an inspired solution that was the perfect transition between the gold trees and yellow sky, adding a sense of dynamic movement and surprise to the piece.
