About this oil:
This painting started with the idea of capturing those fresh greens that show up in early spring. Working on the canvas over a series of days, I couldn't resist the urge to bring in more colorful elements, just touches at first, then more as the painting developed.
 
I was struck by how the young trees stood out against the darker background. That contrast brought new energy to the piece and encouraged me to push the color and light further.
 
This finished painting speaks to those early spring greens but with a shout. What developed is far more expressive than I expected and it was very enjoyable to follow along, taking the painting further with each session, balancing power and elegance.
